Program Length: 1,350 Hours
Program Objective:
The objective of this course is designed to develop the necessary skills and competencies for students preparing for a career in boat/yacht repair and refinishing occupations within the marine industry. The content includes, but is not limited to marine terminology, boating, and navigation, workplace safety practices, communication skills, mathematical and scientific practices as related to the marine industry.
The content includes but is not limited to the following: service, repair and overhaul of four-stroke and two-stroke cycle engines and outboard motors; and service and repair of boating accessories. With regard to the above, course content will include electrical systems, fuel systems, power transfer systems, ignition systems, cooling systems, lubrication systems, drive systems and boat and trailer rigging.
The course content should also include training in communication, leadership, human relations and employability skills; and safe, efficient work practices.
16 years of age or older and not currently enrolled in any K-12 program
Occupational Interest
The entire program is 1350 hours but students can earn a certificate upon completion of the following OCPs:

Minimum basic-skills grade levels required for awarding a Full Program Completion Certificate are 9th grade in Math, Reading and Language on the TABE® test. Additional information can be provided by student services. Students are expected to complete program competencies.

Salary
The average wage for this career in Florida is $25.30 hourly or $52,620 annually.
In-state residents – $2.56 per hour (Subject to change)
Out of state resident – $10.25 per hour (Subject to change)
$20.00 application fee per trimester
Material fee – $66.00
Identification fee – $5.00 per trimester
Liability insurance fee – $10.50
Students must purchase books/kits and/or uniforms, if applicable
- Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
